Words from the Director
Set Progress
Just sitting down with Matthew Klarich… A producer/director by trade, but location scout on Ace Wonder. This man is amazing, the sets he has procured in Jefferson City are astoundingly good.
And Chad Gundersen is fantastic. He is both a kindred soul, and my arch nemesis. Working with him is great though, I love it.
Bob Spinner and the gang are rounding out that treefort set, Johnny Reighard and Jim Cunningham’s production design team are turning out some of the most incredible ideas and themes to integrate. The mini-steampunk stuff is great, courtesy of Johnny.
One of the huge complications thus far is also the simplest; names. We have two Joshs, five Johns, two James, four Jeffs, and quite a few other J’s.
All in all, this picture is holding up to my expectations in almost every way, and excelling in a few that I didn’t predict.
BTW, the RED camera with the new sensor…. It’s magic. David Heustis says so.

News from the DP
Here’s some news from the Director of Photography on Ace Wonder…James Burgess
“I’m on location in Pigeon Forge, TN. Visited several of the locations yesterday and to observe construction of the main set piece being built on the steep side of a hill. Crew and equipment are beginning to arrive.
Production office is humming.
Yesterday was rainy, today looks relatively clear, at the moment, with low hanging clouds clinging to the foothills.
I will be working with John Moore this morning designing shots for blocking and camera placement/movement.
We pull the trigger on Monday.”
Very exciting! We’ll keep you posted
